Short · 49 words

My Energy Agent is an independent, consumer-paid electricity comparison and advice service for households in South East Queensland. Medium · 81 words

My Energy Agent is an independent electricity plan finder and ongoing energy adviser for households in the Energex distribution area of South East Queensland. It reads a household's bill, models a full year of half-hourly usage, and prices every generally available residential plan from the Australian Energy Regulator's public Consumer Data Right feed. Households get the plans worth switching to, a 12-month forecast and plain-English reasons. You pay us. Energy retailers don't. There are no commissions, referral fees or affiliate links.

Full boilerplate · 155 words

My Energy Agent is an independent, consumer-paid electricity comparison and advice service for households in South East Queensland. Comparison sites are usually paid by the retailers they recommend, which makes them sales channels rather than advisers. My Energy Agent charges the household a small fee instead, and takes no commissions, referral fees, affiliate payments or lead sales from any retailer, on any plan. It reads a household's bill or smart-meter data, builds a year of half-hourly usage, and prices every generally available residential plan published to the Australian Energy Regulator's public Consumer Data Right feed. A deterministic pricing engine does all the arithmetic; AI models read bills, choose between priced plans and explain the result, and are never permitted to produce a figure. Plans are ranked on what they cost if no discount condition is ever met. My Energy Agent is built and run in Brisbane by Rowe Digital, and household data stays in Australia.

What it does

Seven things worth knowing about the product.

  1. Every plan, not a panel

Every retailer must publish its generally available plans to the regulator's public feed. All of them are priced for the household's postcode, so a retailer cannot be left out for not paying, or promoted for paying.

  2. Priced on the household's own usage

A bill, or a smart-meter interval file, becomes a full year of half-hourly usage. That is what makes time-of-use, demand and controlled-load tariffs comparable instead of guesswork.

  3. Figures computed, never generated

A deterministic pricing engine does the arithmetic and is tested against hand-worked examples. AI models read bills, choose between already-priced plans and explain the result; they are never allowed to produce a price.

  4. Ranked on the cost with no conditions met

Plans are ranked on what they cost if the household never meets a single discount condition, because paying a bill a day late should not turn a good plan into a bad one. Conditional savings are shown separately and labelled.

  5. The last bill, priced line by line

The report re-prices the household's most recent bill on the current plan and on each recommendation, using the bill's own units, so the comparison can be checked against a document already on the kitchen bench.

  6. It keeps watching

Rates change, and the 1 July price reset changes them all at once. Energy Watch re-checks through the year and only gets in touch when there is something worth looking at.

  7. Australian by design

Bills, usage and profiles stay in Australian data centres, and the AI models that read them run only in Australian regions. Names, meter numbers and account numbers are masked before a model sees a bill.

The longer version is on how it works, and the method, assumptions and limits are written out on how we compare plans.

Short · 38 words

Ashley Rowe is the founder of My Energy Agent, an independent electricity plan finder for South East Queensland households. He built it so that a household could buy advice that answers to them rather than to a retailer.

Medium · 75 words

Ashley Rowe is the founder of My Energy Agent and a co-founder of BubSync, both built by Rowe Digital, a small Australian software company he runs from Brisbane. With a background in technology and product development, he started My Energy Agent after looking at how energy comparison actually works in Australia: the sites doing the comparing are paid by the retailers they recommend. My Energy Agent charges the household instead, and takes nothing from retailers.

With more personality · 88 words

Ashley Rowe is an Australian founder and software builder based in Brisbane. Through Rowe Digital he designs, builds and supports his own products rather than client work, and being small is the point: he would rather run two products properly for a decade than launch six and abandon four. He started My Energy Agent after a simple realisation about the energy market, which is that almost nobody comparing electricity plans on a household's behalf is being paid by that household. Everything in the product follows from fixing that.

Ashley Rowe builds and runs his products through Rowe Digital, a small Australian software company in Brisbane. rowedigital.net has the other ventures. A longer biography, or an interview, is a question away.

Quotes

Attributable to Ashley Rowe, founder.

Use them as they stand, or ask for something written to your angle.

On being paid by households

“If a retailer paid us, the answer would be for them. A comparison is only worth having if it was made for you, so we charge the household and take nothing from anyone else.”
Ashley Rowe, founder, My Energy Agent

On what the AI is allowed to do

“The AI reads your bill, picks between plans and explains itself in plain English. It is never allowed to work out a price. Every dollar on the page comes from code we can test.”
Ashley Rowe, founder, My Energy Agent

On conditional discounts

“We rank plans on what they cost if you never meet a single condition. Paying a bill a day late should not turn a good plan into a bad one, and nobody should have to be perfect to get the price they were shown.”
Ashley Rowe, founder, My Energy Agent

The mark

A dollar sign whose S is a lightning bolt, with a four-point spark: saving, electricity and the agent in one glyph. Navy strokes with a deep-gold spark on light backgrounds; gold strokes with a white spark on navy.

The lockup

The mark with the word mark. Use this wherever there is room for the name; the word mark is set in Archivo at the brand's width, so it should not be retyped in another face.

Style notes

Five things we would rather you got right.

The name

"My Energy Agent" is three words, each capitalised. "MyEnergyAgent" appears only as the domain, myenergyagent.au. Not "My Energy Agents" and not "MEA".

What we are, and are not

My Energy Agent is an independent comparison and advice service. It is not an energy retailer, does not sell electricity, and is not affiliated with any retailer, the Australian Energy Regulator or Energex. It does not switch anyone: it gives the household the steps and a plain link.

Savings language

Please do not attach an "up to" saving to us. We do not publish one, because a saving depends entirely on a household's own usage and current plan.

Using the mark

Leave clear space of at least half the mark's height on every side. Smallest usable size is 16 px for the tile and 20 px for the bare mark, and the spark stays at every size. Do not straighten the zigzag into a plain S, drop the spark, recolour the tile, or add outlines, gradients or shadows.
