How it works

From a bill to a better plan, and then we keep watching.

Ten minutes of your time the first time. After that, the checks run on their own and only interrupt you when there is money in it.

  • Nothing charged until you've seen your profile
  • Full refund if we can't produce your comparison
  • Report usually within two minutes of payment

Step by step

What happens after you press go.

  1. Tell us about your home

Start with your address, or upload up to four recent bills as PDFs or photos, or upload a smart-meter interval file. An address gets you a first answer; bills or meter data make it precise. A few quick questions fill in the gaps, and every one of them has a "not sure" option.

  2. We build your household energy profile

Bills are read by an AI model that runs only in Australia, with your name, meter number and account number masked first. What comes out is a plain-English profile: how much you use, when, whether you export solar, what your hot water runs on, what you pay now. You check it before anything else happens. Estimates are labelled as estimates.

  3. Every eligible plan is priced on your usage

A tested pricing engine lays your usage over a full year, half hour by half hour, and prices every generally available residential plan for your postcode on it: supply charges, time-of-use rates, controlled loads, demand charges, feed-in credits, discounts, sign-up credits and GST. Plans that need a meter you don't have are excluded and say so. No AI model touches a number.

  4. Three plans are chosen and explained

Plans are ranked on what they would actually cost you if you never met a discount condition. Then a recommendation model picks the three worth switching to, given your preferences (no conditional discounts, no exit fees, prefer a high feed-in rate), and writes a reason and a watch-out for each. It also explains why the cheapest plan on paper didn't make the list, if it didn't.

  5. You get a 12-month forecast and a list of things to change

Month by month, on your current plan and each recommendation, with the 1 July price reset marked and a range where the inputs are uncertain. Alongside it, three to six actions priced for your home: shift the pool pump, move hot water to a controlled load, clean the panels, check your rebate. Nothing involving a ladder or a switchboard.

  6. A second model checks the first one

Before the report reaches you, a separate critic model checks every claim in it against the engine's figures and the plan data. If they disagree, the report is rewritten or a person looks at it. You see the plan-data snapshot date and the assumptions on every report.

  7. You switch, if you want to

The report has step-by-step switching instructions and a plain link to the retailer with no tracking. A new market contract carries a 10-business-day cooling-off period that starts when the retailer gives you the contract details, and we say so. Tell us when you've switched and the next check starts from your new plan.

  8. We keep checking

On the schedule you chose, and every 1 July, the market is re-priced against your latest usage. If a plan beats yours by more than your threshold ($50 a year or 5% by default), you get a new report that leads with the number. If nothing has changed, a short note, or nothing but a dashboard entry if you'd rather only hear when there's something to do.

That is the whole process. The first step is yours.

Upload a bill and the profile, the pricing and the report follow in minutes. You see your profile and choose a plan before anything is charged.

  • Nothing charged until you've seen your profile
  • Full refund if we can't produce your comparison
  • Report usually within two minutes of payment

Your rights when you switch: the cooling-off period is rule 47 of the National Energy Retail Rules, and if a retailer gets something wrong the Energy and Water Ombudsman Queensland handles complaints free of charge. We are not a party to your contract with the retailer.

A scheduled deal check

What “we keep checking” actually means.

Each check is the same engine and the same care as the first search, run against that day’s plan catalogue and your latest usage. Then one of three things happens.

Switch alert

A plan beats yours by more than your threshold, or the rates on your own plan have changed. You get a full report and an email that leads with the number.

Quiet result

Nothing material has changed. The forecast rolls forward and you get a short “still a good deal, next check on…” note, or just a dashboard entry if you asked to only hear when there is something to do.

Action needed

Your usage data is getting old, a bill we asked for hasn’t arrived, or a payment failed. We tell you exactly what to do and the check runs when you have.

Less than $2.50 a month, billed yearly. No lock-in. Cancel any time from your report page: nothing more is charged, and we keep checking until the end of the year you've paid for.

For households in South East Queensland

Find out if you’re overpaying. One bill, about five minutes.

We price every plan available to your home on your actual usage and tell you which are worth switching to, with every figure worked out by code and explained in plain English. Paid by you, never by a retailer.

  • Your estimated yearly cost on your plan, and on every other plan sold where you live
  • The plans worth switching to, each with a reason and a watch-out
  • A 12-month forecast you can check against your next bills
