For households in South East Queensland

Make sure you’re not overpaying for electricity. You pay us. Energy retailers don't.

Plans and rates change, and most homes stay on a plan long after it stopped being a good deal. My Energy Agent prices every plan available to your home on your actual usage, tells you whether you’re on a good one, and can keep checking so it stays that way.

  • Nothing charged until you've seen your profile
  • Full refund if we can't produce your comparison
  • Report usually within two minutes of payment
  • No retailer commissions
  • Every plan on the regulator’s feed
  • Numbers computed, never guessed
  • No lock-in

You could save about $283 a year.

Against your current plan, on the usage in your last four bills. The three plans below are the ones worth switching to, and why.

  1. 1
    Single-rate solar plan
Highest feed-in rate that also keeps a low daytime rate. No conditional discounts to lose.
    −$283 / yr$2,037 a year
  2. 2
    Time-of-use plan
Cheaper overnight for the pool pump; costs more if the aircon runs 4–9pm.
    −$206 / yr$2,114 a year
  3. 3
    Solar Sharer plan
Three free hours 11am–2pm. Worth about $190 if you shift the pool pump and dishwasher.
    −$83 / yr$2,237 a year
Twelve-month forecast, current plan versus recommended planMonthly cost on the current plan rises from $165 in September to $240 in January and settles near $195 by August. • Move hot water to controlled load (Tariff 33)about $95 / yr
  • Have the panels cleaned before springabout $40 / yr

How we worked this out: 7,500 kWh imported, 4,000 kWh exported, hot water on Tariff 33. Every plan generally available to postcode 4152, priced on the AER catalogue snapshot of 4 September 2026. Current rates assumed after 1 July.

The problem

Most Queensland homes are on a plan they chose once and never looked at again.

Prices reset every 1 July. Retailers reprice their market offers in between. The plan that was good value when you signed up is quietly something else two years later, and from Brisbane to the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast there are a few hundred plans in the Energex area to check it against.

Nobody rings to say you’re overpaying

A retailer has no reason to move you to its cheaper plan. The difference between an ordinary plan and the best one for a home is often a few hundred dollars a year, and it only shows up if someone looks.

The free government site is generic

Energy Made Easy is impartial and worth a look. It can pull your usage if you enter your NMI, but it won’t read your bill, forecast your next 12 months, or tell you when things change.

Your bill is harder than it looks

Flat, time-of-use and demand tariffs. Controlled-load hot water. Feed-in rates. Conditional discounts. Sign-up credits. And now free daytime hours that are paid for somewhere else on the bill.

Why we charge

You pay us. Energy retailers don't.

Many comparison services are free to use because retailers pay them a commission when you switch. Our model is deliberately simple: you pay us a small fee, so the only person we work for is you. No commissions, no referral fees, no sponsored placements, from any retailer, ever.

My Energy Agent is an independent, consumer-paid electricity plan finder for households in South East Queensland. It prices every generally available plan on your actual usage, recommends the plans worth switching to, forecasts your next 12 months and keeps checking so you stay on a good deal. It is paid only by you and takes nothing from energy retailers.

Free Quick Scan

Not sure it is worth it? Start free, and carry on if it is.

Enter your postcode and how many people live at home, and the scan shows what the market looks like for a home like yours: how many plans, what they cost on typical usage, and the gap between an ordinary plan and the best one. No bill, no payment, nothing stored.

If the gap says a check is worth it, your postcode and household size carry straight into the $9.99 check, so there is nothing to type twice.

What you get

A straight answer, a 12-month forecast, and someone keeping watch.

Are you on a good deal, and what would you save

Your estimated yearly cost on the plan you have, against every plan available to you after each discount condition, feed-in rate and controlled load is accounted for. The plans worth switching to, each with a plain-English reason and a watch-out. If your current plan is already good, we say so.

A forecast you can check against your bills

Month by month for the next 12 months, on your current plan and on each recommendation, with the 1 July price reset marked. Every new bill you send is scored against the forecast, so you can see how right we were.

Three to six ways to lower the bill itself

Each with a dollar estimate for your home: shift the pool pump into the free window, move hot water to a controlled load, clean the panels before spring, check the Queensland Electricity Rebate is applied. Nothing that involves a ladder or a switchboard.

We keep checking, and only speak up when it matters

On Energy Watch the market is re-priced against your latest usage around your bills and every 1 July. If a plan beats yours by more than your threshold, you get a report that leads with the number and a link to switch. If not, you hear nothing but a short note that you’re still on a good deal.

Why you can trust the number

Built so the answer can only be for you.

  • No retailer money, on any plan

No commissions, referral fees, affiliate links, sponsored placements or data sales. The links in your report go straight to the retailer with no tracking. You are the only customer.

  • Every dollar figure is computed, not generated

A tested pricing engine does the arithmetic on a full year of half-hourly usage. AI models choose between plans and explain them in plain English; they are never allowed to produce a price. Every result records the plan data and engine version it used, so it can be re-run and checked.

  • Plan data from the regulator, not from retailers

Every retailer must publish its plans to the Australian Energy Regulator’s public Consumer Data Right feed. We read that feed daily. No retailer can be left out, and none can pay to be moved up.

  • Your bills stay in Australia and don’t stay long

Everything runs in Sydney. The AI that reads bills runs only in Sydney and Melbourne. Names, meter and account numbers are masked before a model sees a bill. Bills are deleted 30 days after your plan ends, or the moment you ask.

Questions people ask first

Straight answers.

Do you get paid by energy retailers?

No. No commissions, referral fees, affiliate links, sponsored placements or data sales, from any retailer, on any plan. Links to retailers in your report are plain links with no tracking. Many comparison services are free because retailers pay them when you switch; you pay us instead, which is the whole reason the service costs money and the reason you can trust the answer.

What does the free Quick Scan tell me?

Enter your postcode and how many people live at home, and the scan shows how many generally available plans there are in your area, what they cost a home like yours on typical usage from cheapest to dearest, and how big the gap is between an ordinary plan and the best one. It is worked out from the regulator's plan data by the same pricing engine as the paid check, but on benchmark usage, so it is an estimate of the market, not a recommendation. It cannot say whether you personally are on a good deal; that needs your bill, and your postcode and household size carry into the paid check so you do not type them twice.

What does Energy Watch actually do?

It keeps you on a good deal. You get a personalised comparison to start, then we re-check the market against your latest usage about every three months and around the 1 July price changes. Each bill you send is scored against the forecast. If a plan beats yours by more than your threshold, you get a report that leads with the number; if not, you hear nothing but a short note.

How much does it cost?

The Quick Scan is free. After that, it is $9.99 once for Check My Plan or $29 a year for Energy Watch, GST inclusive. Every paid plan starts with a personalised comparison on your bill; Energy Watch then keeps checking through the year. If you check once and later want us to keep going, add Energy Watch for $19.01 and the $9.99 is credited.
